As we transition into the new season, let’s put away those heavy scarves and welcome something light, colorful, and oh-so-stylish. In this blog post, I’m super excited to share with you a fun and easy Granny Stripe crochet scarf pattern that’s just perfect for springtime. Whether you’re a crochet pro or a newbie looking for a fun project, this pattern has got you covered.

Granny Stripe crochet scarf

This scarf is made using a granny stripe crochet pattern which uses two of the fundamental crochet stitches, making it very beginner-friendly. This is a 2-row repeat pattern, so once you know how to do those 2 rows, you can repeat them as many times as needed to reach the desired length of the scarf.

Below I have included a step-by-step written pattern along with a video tutorial on the Granny Stripe if you are a visual learner like me and prefer to watch and learn.

Customization and Tips-

  • Looking to customize the length of the scarf? No problem! Simply add more rows to make it longer or reduce the number of rows to make it shorter.
  • Want to adjust the width of the scarf? You got it! Add more chains in the beginning to make it wider or reduce the number of chains to make it narrower.
  • Just remember, more rows for length and more chains for width!
  • I am using 2 hooks here. J hook is used to make chains and then the rest of the scarf is made using H hook. This is done to keep the edges straight and avoid the arc that sometimes is created because of the tighter tension in the chains.
  • Tip – Use a stitch marker if you tend to miss the last stitch of the row. The trick is to mark the last of the turning chains when you start the row. This helps when you are at the end of the next row and looking for that last stitch.
