Crochet stitch pattern using mini bean stitch and single crochet

Today I am sharing with you this beautiful but easy crochet stitch pattern. This is a 4 row repeat pattern, but once you know how to crochet those 4 rows, you are just going to repeat them as many times as you need. So that makes this pattern perfect for blankets, scarves, bags, dish clothes and more.

Here, I am going to give you a generic pattern that you can make your own by changing the starting number of chain stitches. All you need to make sure that you start with the odd number of chains and you will be good to go!

The pattern mainly made up of, mini bean stitch and single crochet stitches. I’ve written step by step pattern below including how to do a mini bean stitch. Crochet stitches and abbreviations –

  • ch – chain
  • sc – single crochet
  • sk – skip
  • mbs – mini bean stitch – Insert the hook in the indicated chain/stitch, pull up the loop, yarn over, insert the hook in the same chain/stitch, pull up the loop. There should be 4 loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull the yarn through all the loops on the hook. Ch 1 to secure the cluster.

Crochet stitch Pattern –

*Note – This pattern is in US crochet terms.

  • Start with odd number of chains or (multiples of 2) +1 chains.
  • Row 1 – mbs in the 3rd chain from the hook. *sk next ch. mbs in the next ch*. Repeat * till the end of the row. ch 1 and turn around the work.
  • Row 2 – mbs in the top of the 1st mbs and not the chain space from the previous row. *sk next ch, mbs in the top of the next mbs* Repeat * till the end of the row. ch 1 and turn around the work.
  • Row 3 – mbs in the top of the 1st mbs and not the chain space from the previous row. *sk next ch, mbs in the top of the next mbs* Repeat * till the end of the row. Turn around the work without ch 1.
  • Row 4 – sc in the 1st stitch. sc in each of the stitches for the entire row. ch2 and turn around the work.
  • Repeat row 1 to 4 as many times as you need to achieve the length of the fabric.
