Crochet Mini Wreath Ornament

The holiday season is the perfect time to get crafty, and what better way to add some handmade charm to your Christmas tree than by creating a cute crochet mini-wreath ornament? This mini wreath is perfect if you’re a beginner crocheter looking for a quick and easy project! It’s a simple and fun craft that adds a personal touch to your holiday decor. Plus, it makes for an excellent gift or stocking stuffer!

Crochet Mini Wreath Ornament

This pattern was inspired by a lovely design from Yarnspirations. Their original version used double crochet stitches, which created beautiful but slightly bulkier mini wreaths. I decided to tweak the pattern by using single crochet instead, making the wreaths smaller, tighter, and more delicate—just the way I envisioned them for my project!

In this post, I’ll show you how to crochet your own mini-wreath ornament.

First, you’ll crochet two colorful spirals, one in each yarn color. Once both spirals are complete, we’ll twist them together and secure the ends by sewing them together with the yarn tails. This step helps keep everything in place and transforms the twisted spirals into a neat circle. Finally, you’ll shape your creation into a wreath and use the remaining yarn tails to add a little loop for hanging—or tie a cute knot to finish it off! And just like that, your cheerful mini-wreath will be ready to spread holiday joy!

Check out the step-by-step pattern I’ve shared below! If you get stuck or have any questions, don’t worry—you can always watch my detailed video where I guide you through each round.

Customization and Tips-

Before we dive into the pattern, let’s take a moment to talk about how you can make your wreath ornament truly unique! With just a little creativity, you can customize your design to match your holiday style or personal preferences. Plus, here are some handy tips to ensure your finished wreath looks polished and professional.

Customization –

  • Color Choices
Start by picking colors that match the holiday spirit! Traditional shades like red, green, and white are always a classic choice. If you’re looking for something more eye-catching, try metallic threads to add a festive sparkle. For a softer, vintage feel, consider using pastel shades—they’ll give your ornaments a delicate charm.
  • Yarn Type
The type of yarn you choose can completely transform the look of your wreaths. Fuzzy or velvet yarns create a cozy, warm vibe that’s perfect for winter. On the other hand, metallic or glittery yarns add a touch of shine, making your ornaments stand out on any tree.
  • Embellishments
Take your wreaths to the next level with some creative decorations! Tiny beads, pearls, or sequins work beautifully as “berries” or ornaments. You could also tie a small bow using ribbon and attach it to the bottom of the wreath for an elegant touch. For a playful look, try adding mini pom-poms or even tiny bells to bring some festive cheer.

Tips –

  • Size Adjustments
It’s easy to customize the size of your wreaths! Adjust the number of starting chains to make smaller or larger versions. Similarly, using different hook sizes will also affect the overall size of your ornaments.
  • Gauge and Tension
Consistency is key when crocheting your wreaths. Keeping your tension even will ensure smooth, uniform loops. If you’re not confident, spend a little time practicing with scrap yarn before diving into the project—it’ll save you time and effort later!
  • Secure Ends Neatly
Once your wreath is complete, don’t forget to weave in the yarn ends securely. This simple step ensures that your ornaments won’t unravel, even after years of use.
  • Stitch Variations
Finally, don’t be afraid to experiment with different stitches to add texture and variety! Half double or double crochet can give your wreath a slightly different look without much effort.
