Ear warmer headband is a great way to keep your head warm in winter without much overheating. I’ll show you how to do a very easy but elegant crochet ear warmer headband with a complete free pattern and step by step video.
For this ear warmer, all you need is a medium worsted yarn in color of your liking, size 4.25 mm hook and then a stitch marker to keep track of starting stitch of each round. This pattern starts with few chain stitches joined to make a big round. Then the round is followed by multiple rounds of crochet stitches( single crochet, double crochet, half double crochet and treble crochet) joined with a slip stitch. A perfect project for anyone wanting to practice all basic stitches! And the best part is that you get to use it for yourself or your family member!
How to decide starting number of chain stitches?
Before you start, don’t forget to measure circumference of the head around forehead and ear of the person for whom you are making this headband. The best way to do this is to do some chain stitches and then place it around your forehead and ears to see if they were enough to cover your head. Alternatively, you can also measure circumference in inches and do chain stitches to cover that length. For me, I was able to cover my head by doing 76 stitches, hence that’s what I’ll use in this pattern.
The main design of the pattern requires multiple of 14 stitches and then whatever extra stitches that you need to cover your head. So for example, in my case, I am going to do 14 multiplied by 5 which is 70 stitches and then I needed extra six stitches to cover my head. So I’ll distribute these 6 stitches at the beginning and at the end of the round with remaining 70 stitches in between.
